Web utilization is free and open, so every business, little or enormous, guarantees that it joins the SEO rivalry to accomplish hierarchical objectives.

For beginners in the field of SEO, conferring slip-ups is inescapable. All things considered, SEO showcasing is not easy. An advertiser must have experience, information, and enthusiasm to survive the merciless business. This does not mean, in any case, that blunders couldn't be relieved, particularly the most widely recognized ones that even the most experienced experts still confer. In the event that you are thinking about a SEO showcasing profession later on or if the art just interests you, here are the do's and don'ts you should know. Keep in mind to peruse eagerly and take a few notes in light of the fact that these tips will help you through later on!

The Basics of SEO Marketing: Do’s and Don’ts

DO'S – Tips that will make them go! Ensure that your catchphrases are important.

The objective of SEO is to be pertinent. This is portrayed by having a place with the list items that clients see when they look for terms in Google and other web search tools. To accomplish this objective, a SEO advertiser must guarantee that the catchphrases he puts in site content superbly coordinate the mentality of an online program. For instance, if the SEO advertiser markets for an eCommerce site for second-hand contraptions, the watchwords he may utilize are "great quality second-hand cell phones/tablets/cameras". He ought to have the capacity to envision what kind of device the client may search for. Without this learning, the site page/site remains obscure, regardless of the possibility that the substance is useful.

Be distinctive.

The test of SEO does not end by having a place with the main page of results. The more prominent obstruction is to keep up pertinence by consistently making fascinating substance. Without something new to peruse or watch in your site, the odds of guests returning is less. Who needs to visit a site again when a steady wellspring of articles to peruse is available, isn't that so? The fact of the matter is, you bring to the table something new to stir the enthusiasm of clients. Do you have news that clients can't discover in different sites? Do you offer freebies, for example, electronic books or programming? It is safe to say that you are the most receptive to client surveys? Are your images crisp and interesting? These are the basic inquiries you ought to request that yourself manage you in keeping up notoriety on the web.

Be open.

To expand site activity, online substance ought to be available to everybody. When I say everybody, I MEAN EVERYONE. In this day and age, the most effortless approach to achieve larger part of business sectors is to enter social media. The populace of interpersonal interaction destinations like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram adds up to hundred millions. This irrefutably tells the web-based social networking is a dependable stage to contact a boundless group of onlookers. As a SEO advertiser, you ought to exploit the open door by infiltrating the online networking scene. Make numerous records to augment your client systems.

On the off chance that online networking administration is a lot of an undertaking, request the administrations of specialists. The mystery is to make enduring associations with clients through media they are most alright with and are most available to. As per Blue Hat Marketing seo administrations, a main firm in the industry, succeeding in web-based social networking administration "requires a devoted, continuous exertion that is customized to your business' particular needs".

DON'TS – Bad practices you should keep away from! Giving a lot of concentrate on watchword thickness

Catchphrase thickness alludes to the rate by which a watchword shows up on a site page in contrast with the aggregate number of words in the page. Since the excursion towards the pined for "first-page introduction" implies additionally coordinating catchphrases, SEO amateurs have a tendency to organize this while making site content. While this ought to dependably be contemplated, this ought not be the main core interest. At the point when content authors get excessively got up to speed with including various catchphrases in an article, paper, or some other work, the quality endures. The work would appear to depict that the need to increment watchword thickness is more essential than giving quality substance to clients. On the off chance that regardless you need individuals to peruse your substance, strike a harmony amongst quality and catchphrase thickness when composing.

Inability to recognize a showcasing objective

Objective setting is an essential stride in each endeavor. For SEO showcasing, an objective must be set as a reason for making effort. For instance, the objective of a form store for making a site is to bait clients to go to the genuine store. On account of this, the theme of articles or online journals in the site can be about the most recent patterns in mold, with an invitation to take action to buy at the store. With the non-presence of an advertising objective, the advertiser does not know the way the business needs to take and winds up squandering valuable time and assets.

Overlooking neighborhood SEO

The true objective of SEO showcasing is to make a deal. In accomplishing this objective, a SEO advertiser must have the capacity to know the general population inside the topographical area where the store is working. This is imperative to build mark mindfulness inside the district first before extending to different areas. The issue with apprentices is thinking way out of the container. On account of this, they overlook that a market which is simpler to reach additionally exists inside the group.

There you go! These are the basic slip-ups you have to keep away from and the fundamental tips you should follow with a specific end goal to commence your SEO profession destined for success. 20 Myths About Blogging You Must Know

20 Myths About Blogging

Myth: a broadly held, yet false conviction or thought.

Consider any them exist in the blogging scene? Um, yes. Truth be told, I would contend that blogging myths travel more remote, speedier, and more extensive than different ventures in light of the fact that blogging is a method of advanced correspondence. As an expert in the field, I come up against false blogging convictions constantly. What's more, here's the thing around a myth… .

They start with a grain of truth. You've heard the familiar axiom, "A lie is awful, the fact of the matter is the best, however a half-lie is the most exceedingly bad." The accompanying web journal myths have in them some truth. That is the thing that makes them so spreadable. All things considered, in the event that it was totally sham, nobody would trust it!

Myth #1 | If you construct it, they will come

No they won't. Building and composing are just a little piece of blogging. With a huge number of blog entries distributed regular, the best way to get your work seen is to build up a solid procedure to share and market your substance.

Myth #2 | Blog posts 300-700 words are ideal

This myth has developed in view of the blast of pics, tumblr online journals that have no written work (and just pictures), in addition to obviously – Twitter. With a crowd of people that has the tolerance of an organic product fly, you need to get in and get out right? In all actuality web journals with accommodating and evergreen substance — these are the posts that will get filed by Google web crawlers. That is the place and how the movement comes pouring in. Social sharing just fills in as hard as you do. SEO helps your posts work for you long after you've wrapped up the post.

Myth #3 | Blogging is about composing

Yes..and no. Blogging is really about instruction and diversion. Think about a blog/blogger like a proprietor of an exhibition hall or school. You must create content that is pertinent, useful, and engaging. It is additionally your business to lead your perusers to other individuals' useful substance on similar point. You must improve somebody's life or more significant. Composing is a piece of this condition, however in the event that I needed to consider single word to incorporate blogging, it wouldn't compose.

Myth #4 | Too numerous modules can destroy a blog

This one is precarious, in light of the fact that from one viewpoint it is valid. However, did you realize that it just takes ONE module to demolish a blog? It's hard to believe, but it's true. One line of lost code and your entire blog will break. Be exceptionally cautious about the modules you introduce. Regardless of the possibility that somebody raves about it, you don't know how it will communicate with YOUR subject and alternate modules you have as of now introduced. Also, learn to expect the unexpected. Regardless of the possibility that the module gave you no inconvenience for quite a long time, it can out of the blue not work with your topic or WordPress (particularly if there is an upgrade).

Myth #5 | Since there are such a large number of free WordPress topics, you don't have to pay for one

There are some incredible free topics, beginning with the WordPress default subjects. On the off chance that you know code, you can make that terrible kid do anything you need. Obviously, you'll have to make a custom youngster subject so it can deal with redesigns without breaking. Be that as it may, by the day's end, you're basically making your own particular subject. Free is kind of misleading on the grounds that the time and know-how it takes to make a redid kid subject from the free layouts isn't generally free. You took in those traps some place!

On the off chance that you don't know code, purchase a topic. A decent one. A lightweight one. A responsive one or potentially portable benevolent one. Try not to attempt to be thrifty. There's a reason Genesis, Prophoto, and Thesis cost cash. This is on account of they accompany shake strong client bolster, also a large group of elements that will keep you from a huge amount of disappointment and migraine. You get what you pay for.

Myth #6 | Google + is an apparition town, it's not worth putting resources into as a way of life blogger

With Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, why do you require yet another social stage? Numerous bloggers expect that their group of onlookers is simply not there, so it looks bad to contribute. There are two or three issues with that hypothesis – this being the greatest one –

Do a reversal in time (to the introduction of Pinterest, Twitter, or Facebook). Prior to the world was utilizing it. Wouldn't you have wanted to as of now be built up on the stage? One of the pioneers who made ready? In case you're going to make it on the Interwebz, you should will to go where the group isn't… yet.

Myth #7 | I try to avoid sharing competitor’s blogs so I don’t lose readers

It’s normal and natural to feel intimidated by someone who has a better blog or bigger audience. But sharing your competitor’s blog posts does two things. One, it helps spread the good blog karma online. Don’t believe me? Start sharing those who write in your niche. Secondly, it shows your readers and followers that you are determined to help them, even if it means going to someone other than you.

Myth #8 | I put all my blog entries on one Pinterest board called My Blogs so individuals will discover and share them

No. Try not. It's weak. In the event that individuals need to discover a cess pool of your blog entries, they ought to just go to your BLOG! Pinterest is about investigating the themes you adore. Take your Pinterest sheets and make classes of interests. Sprinkle important posts among other supportive (and outwardly captivating substance).

Myth #9 | Tags on WordPress are useful for SEO

Labels have little to do with SEO, particularly today. Labels are an authoritative device on WordPress. When you pick applicable catchphrases, you can then utilize these labels in a label cloud, on your menu bar, or in your post meta. The purpose of labels is to help your perusers find related posts that may enthusiasm to them. On the off chance that you are labeling your posts with 8000 catchphrases, stop. It's ideal to have three or four labels that connection to different posts.

Myth #10 | There are sure times that are best to share via web-based networking media

There is truth to this myth insomuch as there are sure times that YOUR specific blog entry or social share may improve. The issue with every one of those infographics is that there is no real way to make a control and apply it all inclusive. You need to think about your time zone, you crowd, your subjects, also the stage you're utilizing and what else is drifting at any given time. You will need to do your own particular investigations and think of an arrangement particular to your blog.

Myth #11 | It's best to expel the date from your permalink structure

SEO specialists have touted the possibility that expelling the date from your URL structure improves for permalinks. There are a couple of issues with this line of speculation be that as it may. To start with, when you strip the date from the permalink, your WordPress pages and posts seem to be indistinguishable (as far as structure of the URLs). This can bring about moderate inquiries on your database once your site gets huge. In plain English, it can make your site S-L-O-W. Also, with connection shorteners, numerous individuals absolutely never observe the genuine permalink on social shares.

Myth #12 | I can do fine and dandy without online networking robotization devices

On the off chance that you are simply beginning you, the facts might prove that you can deal with your web-based social networking sharing without utilizing Hootsuite, ViralTag, or Buffer. Be that as it may, over the long haul, it turns out to be progressively vital to be available, dynamic, and steady each day. The vast majority of us can't be online throughout the day, and this is the place web-based social networking robotization instruments have an immense effect. On the off chance that you are the sort of individual who likes to do content curation on one day, booking your pins and tweets will keep your profiles dynamic while not irritating your devotees with short blasts of movement.

Myth #13 | If I can simply get one influencer to share my post (and have it become a web sensation), I'll be brilliant

It's incredible when posts turn into a web sensation or get in the hands of somebody with a huge number of adherents. You can get a support in activity and a surge of email endorsers. Be that as it may, viral activity is amazingly fleeting. There are loads of bloggers I know who've had a large number of shares on posts, however it didn't transform them into overnight examples of overcoming adversity. In the event that your blog isn't reliably putting out profitable data, if your blog is inadequately planned, on the off chance that you make it too elusive the solutions for your perusers addresses, a viral hit won't do much for the long haul achievement of your blog. It's ideal to invest your energy taking a shot at reliable offering and building connections to different bloggers in your specialty.

Myth #14 | Headings in WordPress are for making the content look cool

It does. Be that as it may, there are more motivations to utilize headings. For a certain something, it makes your blog entry effortlessly scannable. You should separate your substance into chomp estimated pieces and utilize headings. All the more critically however, headings have a SEO esteem. At the point when Google creeps your site, it takes a gander at the catchphrases in the headings to start with, and after that in the body of the post. Begin utilizing headings!

Myth #15 | It's best to begin a blog with a free website as opposed to quickly get your own particular space and facilitating

Online journals dislike starter homes. The moment you start posting on the web, you are working deliberately to manufacture acknowledgment of your name, your image, and your space. Moving isn't outlandish (and it's done constantly), yet in the event that I can give one recommendation to a man who hasn't began a blog yet, burn through $100.00 and get your own area and facilitating account. That is the one thing you would prefer not to change after some time – your subject and plan can be modified, however changing those foundational pieces is much harder.

Myth #16 | The most recent plan will get your blog "out there"

Doubtlessly that great plan can quickly expand your readership. Great outline assists with skip rate (how rapidly somebody clicks off your page), email information exchanges, and social shares. The issue is that great outline doesn't benefit you in any way unless you know how to explore the specialty of promoting yourself via web-based networking media. On the off chance that individuals don't have any acquaintance with you exist, the most recent and most prominent outline amounts to nothing.

When you are simply beginning, I suggest that you keep things straightforward. On the off chance that you have cash to spend, spend it on figuring out how to connect with a crowd of people, and stress over cool plan later. It DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD HAVE An UGLY OR POOR FUNCTIONING SITE. Actually, the inverse. Get the cleanest, most keen look you can. It doesn't need to be favor. At that point figure out how to market yourself. Later, you can include super cool plan components that make you emerge.

Myth #17 | The quantity of remarks gives me a heartbeat on my perusers

Truth-A blog with a considerable measure of remarks means you've inspired an emotional response (either positive or negative). In any case, you can't turn this truth over and accept similar thing about the inverse. A blog without numerous remarks is not really a flounder. More individuals are perusing web journals on cell phones (famously unpleasant for conventional remarking). On the off chance that your post doesn't have a great deal of remarks, you have to take a gander at different things to gauge your effect. Is it accurate to say that you are expanding your email endorsers every week? What number of devotees would you say you are picking up? What number of social shares do your posts get?

It's imperative to recollect another messy little truth about blog remarks – a few sites can have a ton of remarks and… well… the blog truly isn't that great by any means!

Myth #18 | Putting my connection in the remarks on Facebook will help more individuals see it

False. This was a broadly held conviction when it appeared that Facebook was changing its calculation to support content overhauls instead of connections. It's not genuine any longer. Be careful about "workaround" thoughts for Facebook. They frequently make them circled in circles without a ton of profit for your venture.

Myth #19 | I decline to discover a specialty since it will restrict me

I hear this always. Hell, I even said it for a considerable length of time with my own blog. It's just not genuine. Online journals with a specialty show improvement over sites without. I can't say it some other way. On the off chance that you need to revolt, that is fine. Be that as it may, specialty will detonate your potential outcomes, not constrain them.

Myth #20 | It looks bad to pay something to help me with my blog when I haven't adapted it yet

This resemble saying, "I need to open my own business, however I won't spend any cash to get it prepared." Good fortunes with that.

Alternately, on the off chance that you are blogging for a diversion, individuals will say, "I have no goal of profiting with it, so I shouldn't burn through cash on it." Okay, sufficiently reasonable. I'm headed toward go get a diversion quilter, a pastime authority, a leisure activity golfer, or an interest craftsman that doesn't spend a dime on their exercises or materials.

When blogging started, it was more of a way for people to journal their thoughts, but nowadays, everybody wants to make money online by blogging and strike it rich like Darren from ProBlogger or Leo from ZenHabits.
So if you’re interested in making money online through blogging, this article is going to be of great interest to you because I am going to lay out fifty ways you can make money online with your blog.
In this article, I have outlined various methods of making money online, from PPC to Affiliate Marketing, Product Creation & more.
As a side note, a lot of these items listed (over 70% of them) I’ve personally used in my own blogs in order to make money online through blogging and I can guarantee that each of these methods of online money making can work for your blog too, when implemented correctly.

PPC Advertisements

Pay Per Click advertisements are one of the biggest forms of advertising on blogs because of their ease of use. Below you’ll see a few companies who offer PPC options.
The general idea, for those who don’t know, when it comes to pay per click advertisements is that you’ll place ads on your website and each time someone clicks the specific ad, you’ll get paid X amount of cents/dollars.
Google Adsense – Perhaps the most popular ways for bloggers to start making money with their blog is Google Adsense. With it’s ease of use and the countless WordPress plugins for you to drop ads right into your website, it’s a top choice amongst beginner bloggers and veterans alike.
Chitika – Another great network and one that’s used by some of the bigger bloggers out there, Chitika is definitely a powerhouse in the CPC ad business.
Clicksor – One of the great things about Clicksor is that they make payouts every 15 days instead of 30+ like Adsense and others in the industry. That, mixed with it’s up to 85% commission for clicks, you’re bound to make money with them.
Bidvertiser – As one of the lesser known PPC networks, Bidvertiser has been around a long time and has always been a pretty good earner for me.

CRM Advertising Networks

If you have a blog that receives a good amount of traffic but you’re noticing that a lot of that traffic isn’t clicking the ads, this might be the route to go. CRM advertising pays you per 1,000 impressions. So, if you get paid $1.00 per 1,000 impressions and you have 100,000 page views monthly, you’ll make $100 from the one advertisement.
Index Exchange – One of the bigger players in the CRM Advertising industry, Index Exchange allows you to easily set up ads and get paid as much as possible for your page views.
Tribal Fusion – The next largest (if not the largest) CRM company, Tribal Fusion does an awesome job with it’s advertisers and publishers alike. It’s also one of the most widely used CRM networks in the blogging and magazine niches.
Adpepper – A great company that does more than just CRM advertising, Adpepper also offers CPC and CPA campaigns, which allow you to make the max amount of money possible from your blog.
Gorilla Nation – Once your blog reaches a certain level of traffic, Gorilla Nation might be the best step in your CRM advertising opportunities. Conversant Media – With top advertisers and a team behind you to make sure you’re making the most money possible from your blog traffic, Conversant Media has positioned itself as a truly large CRM Advertising Network that’s worth checking out and testing with.

CPA Advertising Networks

The CPA advertising method works when you have someone click an ad on your blog and they either buy something from the website or complete some type of action (ie: CPA = Cost Per Action). This could be signing up for an email form, completing a survey, etc.
Clickbooth – Positioning itself as the exclusive CPA network, Clickbooth is a definite leader in CPA advertising. I’ve used Clickbooth in the past and have had nothing but positive results.
MaxBounty – Right when you open their site, MaxBounty wants to make sure you know that they have the highest paying CPA campaigns around, and rightfully so. They’re definitely one of the top players in the CPA advertising industry.
XY7 – By turning clicks into cash, XY7 has positioned itself as a large network that you should definitely be testing with on your blog.
Neverblue Ads – eHarmoney, Vistaprint, Groupon, MindSpark & Bidz. These are just some of the various partners that Neverblue Ads has that you’ll be able to promote on your blog.
ShareASale – In 2005, 06, 07 & 08, ShareASale was given the best affiliate network award at ABestWeb, which should instantly tell you that when you’re promoting CPA offers from ShareASale, you’re getting top notch quality ads as well as industry leading help in growing your blogging revenue.
CPABounty – With net15/weekly payments, CPABounty is a great way for you to make money with your blog if you’re looking to keep checks coming in on a regular basis.

Direct Advertisements for Blogs

If you’re looking to allow advertising on your blogs and don’t want to run the hassle of looking through networks for companies to choose from and place the ads on your blog yourself, then direct ad sales will probably be your best solution.
Below are various ways to do that – some manual, some automated, some where 100% of the sales go to you and some where less than 100% goes to you.
Buy Sell Ads – One of the biggest direct ad marketplaces is BuySellAds. They’ve got over 2,000 advertisers ready to place ads on your website and are a staple in the blogging/design industries. I’ve used them previously on Guerrilla Freelancing and loved every minute of it.
OIO Publisher – I remember when OIO Publisher stormed on the blogging scene and started making its rounds with people like John Chow, Ian Fernando, Jon Waraas and others. It’s a great ad platform for your blog, allows you to keep 100% of the profits and is even available as a WordPress plugin.
AdRotate WordPress plugin – With the ability to set up different ad groups, track clicks, set expiration dates and keeping 100% of the profits, AdRotate might be a great choice for those wanting to set up ads without paying anything in the plugin purchase (like OIO Publisher) or giving up a percentage (like BuySellAds).
WP125 – Another WordPress plugin, WP125 is a great way to sell ad space on your site in those nifty little 125×125 ad blocks that people like John Chow and Shoemoney made so popular a few years ago (now we see them everywhere).
Direct Sales – This is a way you can sell ads, but is 100% dependent on you accepting payments, adding advertisements & removing them when they need to be removed. You get 100% of the profits but it is a bit more work. Set up an “advertise here” page with your information and the sizes you offer, and start selling ad space now.

Text Link Ads

Although Google has bitch slapped people for selling text link ads without being nofollow, the sale of text links (in my opinion) will never die because of it’s sheer simplicity. You can sell direct links to someones website with their anchor text or you can even sell text links for specific words throughout your blog.
Text Link Brokers – Another marketplace for selling text links on your blog is the Text Link Brokers website. They offer SEO services to their clients and in exchange, you get paid to have links to their clients websites on your blog.
LinkWorth – Serving up over 190,000+ text link ads across it’s network currently, if you’re not able to make money online through blogging with the text link sales from LinkWorth, you might just be in the wrong business.

Affiliate Marketing

Here’s something I personally want to try more of. Below are affiliate companies and bloggers/companies who offer an affiliate program.
Affiliate Programs will pay you a certain percentage of a sale that is made when someone clicks an ad/link on your website and buys something from the landing page of the other website.
ClickBank – I like to call ClickBank the CraigsList of Affiliate Marketing, because it doesn’t get any bigger than this. With products in a huge variety of niches, you’re going to find something to sell that will make you money on your blog.
Commission Junction – Commission Junction is a website that has a ton of products you’re able to promote and you’ll definitely be able to make money online through blogging. With clients like Sony, Home Depot, Woot!, Trip Advisor and many more, there’s definitely names that will virtually sell themselves on your blog.
Empyre Media – An emerging player in the Affiliate Marketing industry, Empyre Media has set itself up with some great advertisers and if you’re looking for extremely high payouts ($35 per sale, for example), then you’ve got to give them a try.
HostGator – As a leader in the hosting industry, you’re going to have a hard time not selling your visitors on their services when you mention that for their $9.95 per month plan, they can get it for 1 penny for the first month if they use the coupon code “TheHackerSolutions”.
MailChimp – A lot of people will recommend Aweber for newsletter management, but I personally like to refer MailChimp, not only because I use it at Guerrilla Freelancing, but because it allows people to have a free account for up to 2,000 subscribers .. ie: it basically sells itself.
Namecheap – If you’re marketing yourself and your blog to other bloggers who might want to venture into building their own websites, the first thing they’re going to need (after hosting) is a domain name and I believe Namecheap is the best and does a great job of retaining customers (I’ve been a customer for 6+ years)
Amazon – A complete giant in online sales, Amazon is a perfect way to set up some ads on your website and earn money from people who are buying products that they’d normally buy anyways. It’s a definite winner for making money online.

Sponsored Reviews

If you’ve got a blog where you talk a lot about different products (ie: a gaming blog, fashion blog, etc) then this might be a great way for you to not only talk about specific items of interest to your readers, but also make some money while doing it.
Sponsored Reviews – Their main focus is to let bloggers earn cash and allow advertisers to gain the buzz they’re after. A win/win situation and one you should definitely consider, especially if the websites you’re reviewing fit well with your niche.
PayPerPost – It does exactly what the name says it does; you get paid per post. You are able to review products that you decide on and are in complete control of the tone and style of your writing.
Blogsvertise – With the word blog right in the title, you can pretty much guess that this is a company geared towards getting you products/services to review and making you money with your blog. A great network with a lot of websites to promote, you’re going to make money with them for sure.

Private Forums

I’ve seen an influx of blogs lately make more money online by setting up private forums as an extension of their blog. It’s a pretty simple process actually, especially when you’ve got a large enough user base to do it.
vBulletin – As an industry leader, vBulletin is an awesome way to build a private forum on top of your blog that allows your regular blog readers pay a monthly fee and interact with each other, ask you questions, etc. vBulletin is a paid script, so you might be interested in some of the others below if you aren’t able to put up the cash up front for it.
bbPress – Forum software that interlaces itself perfectly with WordPress? This might just be the perfect solution for bloggers out there who use WordPress.
Vanilla – An open source forum software that has made its way around the design community and is a breeze to setup & use. What more could you ask for?
phpbb – Another open source forum software that has been around just about as long, if not longer, than vBulletin and is used by thousands upon thousands of websites.
YABB – Yet Another Bulletin Board, the YABB software is 100% free and open source and could be a great addition to your website in order to set up private forums and earn some extra money while blogging.

Sell Your Own Products

Selling your own products on your blog is a great way to make money online and an awesome way to utilize your blog traffic for your own monetary rewards instead of allowing others to advertise.
I’d recommend using eJunkie as a way to automate the download process of any digital goods. It costs $5 per month and will streamline your process so you don’t even have to be around (or awake) when people buy your stuff.
eBooks/Guides – Over at Guerrilla Freelancing I sell ebooks and do fairly well with it. Enough so, I was able to remove all advertising from the site and am strictly making money from the site now by selling my own guides. If you’re a writer, this could be a perfect solution for you.
WordPress Themes – If you’re a WordPress coder, why not build up some premium themes and try your hand at selling them to your blog readers instead of funneling your traffic to a place like WooThemes or StudioPress. This way, you keep all revenue to yourself and keep your visitors on your site.
Design Resources – A great way for bloggers who run design related blogs to make some extra cash is to sell premium design resources like Photoshop brush sets, icons, website layouts, fonts, etc.
Phone & Web Apps – For those of you out there who are good programmers (I see you reading this), you could take some time and develop apps for the phone like Pat over at Smart Passive Income does or you could also build web apps for invoicing, project management, etc.
Premium Tutorials – No matter what niche you’re in (design, development, music, etc) there’s always room to build out nice, in depth tutorials on how to do certain things that your readers will find interesting and sell them at a premium price.

Sell Your Own Services

Just like selling your own products, when you use your blog to make money by selling your services, you’re going to be able to keep 100% of the money and also benefit your business at the same time. It’s definitely something I utilize a lot (as seen below in the notes) and I recommend you at least try it out.
Web Design – If you’d like an example of someone who blogs but also creates custom blog designs, you’ve got to look no further than this exact article. I am a full time freelance WordPress designer and I am building this blog in order to gain attention and sales for my blog design services. You could also do this with a completely separate blog from your main portfolio site, either way works.
Blog Writing – Using myself as an example again, I write blog content for my own blogs, yet utilize my ability to write compelling, share-worthy content to sell my own services of blog writing for other blogs.
Consulting – How many times do you think I can use myself as an example in this section on how to make money online through blogging? I also offer consulting services on the Guerrilla Freelancing blog for freelancers who are looking to build their business and profits.
Marketing – This could be in the form of offline guerrilla marketing, social media marketing, search engine marketing or content marketing. No matter what way you choose, if you’re good at it, you can use your blog to showcase your knowledge of the subject and make money from your blog by marketing for other people.
Mentoring – Brian Clark from Copyblogger is a great example of how you can turn your blogging into a mentoring program. With his Teaching Sells mentoring program, he’s able to make $97 per month and he currently has over 1,000 members (you do the math)

Blogging Basics: The Etiquette of Sharing a Blog Post

Over the next few weeks or months, I’m going to be sharing tips and ideas for newbie bloggers or those of you just considering starting a blog. Blogging Basics is going to be a really informal thing, meaning don’t necessarily look for it on a predictably regular basis. This week, we’ll be starting with some tips on the etiquette of sharing a blog post when it comes to properly sharing posts that you’ve enjoyed by other bloggers.

Blogging Basics: The Etiquette of Sharing a Blog Post
First, one very basic point – blog is short for weblog. A blog consists of all the posts on the site. A single entry on a blog is commonly referred to as a “post” or an “article.” Sometimes I hear people refer to a blog when they clearly mean a blog post.
If you’ve been reading blogs for awhile, you’ve probably come across a post that you really enjoyed – one that you’d like to share.  Bloggers love when you enjoy their writing enough to want to share it, but there are some do’s and don’ts when it comes to properly – and legally – sharing someone else’s work.

Understand Copyright Laws

It’s important to understand copyright laws. A blogger’s original words and photographs are their work. Original text and photos cannot be reprinted on someone else’s blog without the original author’s permission. Copying and pasting another blogger’s work on your blog without permission is a violation of the Digital Media Copyright Act. It may seem like sharing, but it is stealing.
Common thinking is that it’s a compliment to the blogger to share their post with your readers. It is a compliment, but the correct way to share is to link back to the original post. You can do so a couple of ways:
1. Share a snippet of the of the post – a couple of sentences, but no more than a paragraph and not the first 150 characters (more on that coming up) – with a link back for your readers to read the rest of the post.
2. Write a response to the post you enjoyed with a link back to the original post.
3. Tell your readers what you enjoyed about the original post and include a link back for your readers to read the rest.
Think of sharing a blog post like sharing a great book with a friend. Linking back to the original post is kind of like loaning the book out to a friend to read. Copying and posting the entire post on your blog is more like photocopying the entire book and passing it out to everyone you see.
So, what’s wrong with sharing the first 150 characters? Google looks at the first 150 characters for search engine results. If Google finds the same content on multiple sites, it’s flagged as duplicate content and isn’t shown (or ranks much lower) in search engine results, which makes it harder for readers to find either site – the original or the one that shared the post.

Using Photos

Photos are covered under copyright laws just like blog posts. You can’t use another blogger’s photos without their consent. One exception to that is using a photo from other blogger’s sites for posts that have been submitted for use on your blog. For example, when someone submits a post to be shared on the Homeschool Showcase, a right to use a single photo with the post link is implied. I always include a photo credit and link the photo to the original blog post.
It’s best to use your own photos – and it’s really important that you’re using quality photos in your blog posts. If you don’t have a photo that fits the post, though, a great source for photos is flickr creative commons. When someone shares their photos on a site such as flickr with a creative commons license, you are free to use that photo with attribution. Under the license heading, click the some rights reserved link to see if and how you can use the photo.
With most creative commons photos, you can use the photo – and even make some modifications to it, such as adding text – as long as you credit the photographer (usually by linking to the original photo or profile page).
Sharing another blogger or photographer’s work is a great compliment…when it’s done correctly. When it’s done incorrectly, it feels a lot like having your work stolen and it hurts everyone.
If your work has been taken without permission, the best way to handle it is calmly and with grace, as most times I think it’s done in ignorance, rather than out of malice.  If you find your work used without permission:
1. Email the blogger. If you can find the blogger’s contact information, email her privately. Explain that the article or photograph was used without permission and that this is a copyright If your infringement. Ask that the content be removed according to DCMA regulations.
2. Contact the site administrator. If your work has been shared on a website or forum, rather than on a blog, look for the site administrator’s contact information and send your DCMA take-down request to that address. Site administrators usually handle that very quickly because copyright violations are detrimental to their site.
3. Check WhoIs. If you can’t find an email address on the site, sometimes you can find out who the site is registered to by using a domain name search.
4. Hit them in the wallet. If it’s clear that the site using your material is a commercial site – in other words, your material is not being used innocently – Problogger has some excellent tips for how to hit the content scrappers where it hurts.
I hope these tips help you to understand how to correctly share someone else’s work and what to do if someone uses your content without your permission. If you’ve ever found your content used elsewhere, what tips would you add for how to handle it?

How to Write Blog Content for Retailers

Writing a blog for your retail business might seem like an unnecessary waste of time, but you couldn’t be more wrong; a well written blog can actually be a valuable marketing asset and bring in droves of potential customers, while also building upon already established customer relationships. They key is to ensure that your content is relevant and great quality – the kind of content that your customers (and potential customers) will want to read and share.
But before we get to the ins and outs of how to craft content, why do you need a blog?

It improves SEO

Blogging helps you rank higher in search engines like Google and Bing, which means potential customers will find your website easier. Writing blog posts means more links from your site pointing to your homepage or other landing pages, which search engines love.
Also, having regularly updated content signifies that you’re not a dormant website, that you’re constantly active and relevant – which search engines also love! So if you’re updating even just on a weekly basis, you’re helping your site climb the search engine ladder.
Links from your own site are good, but links from other sites are great, so if your content gets shared on social media, you will have more outside links pointing to you, saying “hey, this site is reliable and relevant”, which will improve your SEO. This is why it’s so important to create high quality content which people will want to read (and subsequently share).

It generates traffic

Marketing isn’t just one activity; it’s a harmonious blend of various tactics which all play their unique role within the overall strategy. You can’t just rely on telesales for example, or social media; you need a combination of different marketing techniques which support each other, and blogging definitely has its strengths in generating traffic. In addition to improving your SEO, a company blog helps build your audience, tell your story, personify your brand, and turn browsers into buyers.

It builds an audience

Apart from the obvious SEO benefits blogging has, the other major appeal is building an audience. You’re aiming to craft well-written, helpful articles which people will want to read and continue reading – you want to get your readers hooked so they’ll tune in every day/week/month or whenever to read your super informative, helpful and entertaining content. This audience is likely to talk about and share your content, and more importantly, buy into your business.
So we’ve covered why you need a blog, now what are you supposed to write? You need to put some thought into what your content will be about, but also how you’re going to distribute it and when. Are you going to write daily posts? Weekly posts? Are you just going to share on Twitter, or on a mix of social media channels? Will you be emailing your subscribers with weekly/monthly blog updates? You need to make sure you have it’s consistent and reliable – e.g every Monday and Friday, or the last Friday of the month so your readers know when you’re going to have fresh content.

Consider your audience

Who visits your site? Who buys your products? Who do you want to buy your products? These are the kind of questions you need to ask yourself. The purpose of your blog is to help your customers, engage with them, and promote your brand, so you need to provide a healthy mixture of content which fits these purposes.

Tell your story

You’re not limited to a character count or creatively stifled by social media like Twitter and Facebook, so you can use your blog to express your personality and humanize your brand – talk about your journey, the people who work with you, any company news and progress. Talk about your beliefs and achievements, your goals and your ethos. Share pictures of the team and your offices – show that you’re not just a company, and that there are people behind the product. The key here is to connect emotionally with your readers and potential customers.

Talk about the solutions your provide

Your blog is a great platform from which you can tell the world why they should buy your products or use your services. Address problems potential customers might have and talk about how your products or services solve those problems. As mentioned before, there’s no character limit here, so you can talk passionately and in depth about your business, your products and what makes them so great.

Feature products and make suggestions

You don’t just have to talk endlessly about how great your products are – you can simply place them in your blog to show why they’re so great. Say you’re a fashion retailer, for example. You could write a post called “10 Fashion Tips to Get You Through Winter in Style” and recommend some of your products throughout the post.
Sticking with the fashion example, you could write a post on which products compliment each other e.g “5 Office Outfits For Summer”, showing which products, colours and styles work well together which is a great way to get customers to purchase more than one item while simultaneously giving them advice.

Write something helpful

Your readers need to benefit from your blog, and while showcasing your products is a great source of content which could directly help sell more in the traditional “sales” sense, writing helpful and insightful content is excellent for keeping readers tuned in and sharing your content.
If they read something on your blog that has helped them, they might share it on their Twitter account, which could reach someone else who has the same issue; that person might then read the post and discover your business through your blog. Again, the key here is to write helpful, informative and shareable content.

Feature your customers

What better way to show your products working well than to feature satisfied customers using them? Case studies, testimonials and customer stories are all great sources of content for your blog which go a long way in showing potential customers what they’re missing, while making existing customers feel appreciated – they’re also more likely to share this content on social media, which can help widen your audience.
As you can see, there are plenty of benefits to having a company blog, and creating content doesn’t have to be such a challenge – there really is no excuse not to start writing!
